Junjou Romantica: Junjou Sentiment and Sekaiichi Hatsukoi - Yanase Yuu No Baai (The World’s Greatest First Love: The Case of Yanase Yuu) - English Translation

My favorite cross-over couple from the popular series by Shungiku Nakamura, Junjou Romantica: Pure Romance and Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: The World’s Greatest First Love, mangaka of the famous The Kan series, Kyo Ijuuin and mangaka assistant, Yuu Yanase

Below are the manga chapters (sort of) compiled in chronological order (in the way I think makes to most sense to read it). Because I was desperately struggling to find the English translations for this, I hope this helps anyone wanting to read just the “Junjou Sentiment” arc featuring this lovely couple.

Summary:

Successful mangaka, Kyo Ijuuin, has everything: looks, fame, money, fans. But day by day he’s struggled with staying inspired and confident when working on his popular manga series until one day, while he was having a particularly rough time meeting his deadline, he meets his biggest fan, Misaki Takahashi, who brings light into his world again. Seeing Misaki’s excitement for his work and hearing the boy tell him he loves him, Ijuuin found himself wanting to do anything to keep making his biggest fan happy. And he wanted Misaki to truly fall in love with him, as a person not just his favorite author, because Ijuuin was falling in love with the boy.

But with Misaki’s firm rejection towards reciprocating Ijuuin’s romantic interest, the mangaka was lost once again, now trying to nurse his broken heart. This is when he finds some comfort and empathy with his also recently heartbroken mangaka assistant, Yanase Yuu.

Yanase Yuu had been best friends with Yoshino Chiaki since they first met in middle school, having sat next to each other in class and sharing the same enthusiasm for The Kan manga series. Over the years, despite Yanase’s flirtatious and romantic attempts, Chiaki seems oblivious to these advances. Frustrated that his love interest still couldn’t reciprocate his feelings after his confession, Yanase forces himself onto Chiaki, in hopes that Chiaki will finally see him romantically if they sleep together. Chiaki rejects him firmly this time and both accept the fact that Chiaki would only ever be in love with their mutual friend, Hatori.

A dinner between Ijuuin and Yanase, where both opened up and shared their grievances after having drunk too much alcohol, leads into much more…

Will nursing their heartbreak together be the solution to finding a true, mutual love connection?
